FAQS
What programmes do you offer?
At the moment, we offer two programmes:
- How To Talk – Parents (HTT-P)
- How To Talk – Teachers (HTT-T)
Do check back, because we have plans for other programmes!
What is the difference between the parent and teacher versions of the How to Talk programmes?
How to Talk – Parents (HTT-P) is designed to let carers (parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, helpers etc) learn strategies to apply with their child(ren) in their daily lives.
How to Talk – Teachers (HTT-T) is designed to let educators and anyone working with children learn strategies to apply with their students in the learning environment, whether in 1-to-1 or group settings.
Who will be running the How To Talk programmes?
The HTT programmes are run by Cher and Jia Yue. They are paediatric speech-language therapists with 20 years of combined experience.
What are the facilitator's qualifications?
Cher and Jia Yue have Masters degrees in Speech-Language Pathology from the National University of Singapore (NUS). Also, they have full registration with the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC).
I suspect that my child has a speech or language delay. Will the How To Talk - Parent (HTT-P) programme be suitable?
The HTT-P programme is suitable if your child has a mild speech or language delay. If you are unsure, do email us to confirm suitability for this programme before registering.
What is the difference between "live" and "on-demand" lessons in your How To Talk programme?
You can watch on-demand lessons any time on our learning platform.
Live lessons are conducted in real-time, either in-person or online (e.g. Zoom), and include Q&A at the end. Live lessons will be conducted only for groups of 10 or more. We usually recommend doing the programme over 2 sessions, but it is possible to complete it within 1 (long) session. Do contact us to organise your own groups or to indicate your interest.
How long will I be able to access the lessons after I sign up for a How To Talk programme?
You will have access to the lessons on our learning platform for 12 months from the date of successful registration for our on-demand lessons.
For participants who signed up for live lessons of How to Talk – Parents (HTT-P), you will be able to access on-demand lessons for 3 months after completion of live lessons.
How many adults can attend the HTT-P coaching sessions?
A maximum of 2 adults can attend the coaching sessions with the child. They can be the child’s parents, relatives or other caregivers.
Are there additional material fees?
No.
What materials will be provided?
Slides, handouts and worksheets will be available for download on our learning platform.
Any educational or demonstration videos will not be included due to privacy reasons.
Do I need to bring my own toys for HTT-P coaching sessions?
If you opted for in-person sessions, some toys will be provided for use with your child. However, you may also bring along your child’s favourite toys if you want.
If you opted for online sessions, you will need to use your own toys that are available in your home.
Where will the in-person HTT-P coaching sessions be held?
They will be held on Kindle Sparks premises in the Marina Bay area. The exact address will be emailed to you after successful registration.
I have 2 children in the same age group, can both children attend the HTT-P coaching sessions?
Even though the strategies taught in the HTT-P programme will be suitable for both children, different modifications or feedback may be needed so that they can be fine-tuned for each child’s needs and personality. Our coaching sessions are designed to accommodate a maximum of one child to ensure they benefit as intended.
You may wish to consider signing up for additional coaching slots to provide individualised attention for each child. Please reach out to us for more details.
I work for a school and would like to organise professional training for our staff. Is it possible to conduct the How to Talk - Teacher (HTT-T) live sessions at our premises?
Certainly! We would be happy to meet your team at your centre. Discounts are available for larger groups. Do talk to us for more details.
